Wasabi plant start(s) are shipped bare root with potting soil to provide insulation. We do not ship the plant starts with ice packs. (Bare root is better for these plants and much cheaper for the customer!) NOTE: WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT ABLE TO FULFILL ORDERS IN HAWAII The plants can be grown indoors or outdoor and do well in pots. They require full shade and moist, well-drained soil. They can be planted year-round. Autumn, winter and spring are best. Autumn is our favorite season for planting. Please Note - These Wasabi Plant Starts are either Misho or Daruma variety. These plants are perennial and produce leaves year-round - similar to kale. Wasabi leaves are edible and delicious! Enjoy eating the leaves while waiting for the rhizome to grow. Growing guidelines are provided in each order. Package does contain live plants, if you don’t have time to plant them right away they can be put in the refrigerator until you are ready to plant them. Details: Plants are bare root with the leaves trimmed. It is normal for any leaves present at shipping to wilt and die off. Cut leaf stems will also die off. Plants are not in pots and not in soil. Order Timing: We harvest our wasabi to order. Wasabi orders are harvested weekly each week of the year (year-round - wasabi has no season). Orders placed by Friday at noon Pacific Standard Time will be sent the following Tuesday or Wednesday. Orders received after Friday at noon will be sent one week later (e.g. an order arrives Friday, June 1st at 10AM and is harvested Monday June 4th and sent Tuesday the 5th. Order arrives Sunday June 3rd, it is harvested Monday June 11; one week later). Delivery is usually end of day Thursday or Friday. See vendor website for full return policy.
